Synchronicity and Our Role in Our Universe

With this highly intuitive and mystical full moon coming up in Pisces, I thought it only appropriate to talk about paying attention to our surroundings and listening to the direction of the universe.

What is synchronicity, you ask? In it’s most simplistic form, it was Carl Jung’s effort to explain the unexplainable. Described as “meaningful coincidences,” it catalogues the relationships between seemingly unrelated things with a similar message. So let’s say that I decided to swear off wearing heels because I fell and scraped my knee after getting a stiletto caught in a subway grate. Then, upon walking past the local Payless, I see a sale on orthopedic flats. Coincidence? Maybe. Synchronicity? Yes.

The best way that I can explain this phenomenon is by harnessing a willingness to receive messages from the universe with open eyes. This takes a kind of un-conditioning, however:

As humans, visual beings, we receive millions of units of stimuli through our eyes and to our brain at any given moment. Because that is a hell of a lot to process at once, we’ve narrowed down what we, throughout our lives, have deemed “important.” This is a pretty keen survival mechanism. Certain things stand out to us for survival reasons. And that is what we’ve chosen to observe over ALL of the other things zooming past us at any given moment.

But, what if you channeled the High Priestess and looked through your third eye? What if you looked for what you needed, rather than what you expected? What if your perception aligned with your beliefs, rather than self-limiting stories?

I could make a case for any side of any story with the gathering of evidence. And that is what we do in our day to day. Most of us use the Moon to gather evidence to support our anxieties. We’d like to live in a world where our deep set fears are consistently proven, because to know otherwise would flip us upside-down and empty our proverbial pockets. But if we, just one tiny slice of evidence at a time, tried to convince ourselves of the gorgeous fact that we live in a perfectly abundant world, we could, one tiny slice of evidence at a time, make the world a better place.

It’s a lot to consume, I know, but stay tuned for Wednesdays exercise. I want everyone to try it and comment their findings. Stay tuned in, and stay witchy ( *)
