However, sometimes people can pull it out of you. A simple gesture at work, a kind smile, any kind of appreciation at all, can easily make you appreciate right back.
I had this moment today at work, where these two gentlemen came in and were so full of positive energy. They said thank you to everything, and complimented the service and the entire experience. It’s moments like that, amidst the entitled pricks with noses in the air and sticks up their asses, that make you really appreciate what you are doing.
I felt proud in that moment to facilitate a good time. To create an atmosphere that was appreciated. I appreciated the appreciation. Because when you serve gauche women who think snobbery equals class, or male chauvinists who look at a female as a piece of meat, it’s hard to see past the scene to the bigger picture. And when you focus on that bigger picture instead of a few glitches, your light shines through and you’re bound to meet more pleasant people.
So get out there and appreciate what you’ve got, because it’s not all bad. Keep a good attitude and stay witchy ( *)
